Pop icon and Michigan native Madonna is remembering her Michigan roots with a big donation to a Detroit charter school.
Detroit Prep is raising money to renovate the abandoned public school building on the city's east side.
Madonna paid a visit to a sister school four years ago and wanted to help. The superstar will match collective donations up to $100,000 through her Ray of Light Foundation.
In a statement, Madonna said Detroit has a special place in her heart.
