The man accused of setting a fire that killed his teenage brother faced a judge Monday afternoon for arraignment.
The fire happened Friday at a home on Bloomingdale Street in Sterling Heights.
No bond was set for Mark Marroki due to the nature of the crime. The judge granted a request for a forensic competency exam.
Police say 17-year-old Matthew Marroki died after becoming trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters tried to save him, but he died from his injuries.
Matthew's parents, sister and 20-year-old brother managed to escape the flames.The brother was later taken into custody.
Police say he admitted to intentionally starting the fire.
