Man accused of setting fatal Sterling Heights fire due in court today

The man accused of setting a fire that killed his teenage brother is expected to face a judge today.

The fire happened Friday at a home on Bloomingdale Street in Sterling Heights.

Police say 17-year-old Matthew Marroki died after becoming trapped in an upstairs bedroom. Firefighters tried to save him, but he died from his injuries. 

Matthew's parents, sister and 20-year-old brother managed to escape the flames.The brother was later taken into custody. 

Police say he admitted to intentionally starting the fire.
