The man accused of shooting and injuring two Detroit police officers appeared in court at Frank Murphy Hall of Justice this morning for a probable cause hearing.

It was the first time 60-year-old Raymond Durham publicly since the shooting last Wednesday. During the hearing, attorneys for Durham requested a psychiatric evaluation, stating that he appeared to be delusional.

Another court hearing was set for June.

The Wayne County prosecutor says Durham was stopped by police officers in a marked car on Ash Street near Tillman. While being detained, Durham allegedly fought with officers then pulled a gun from his waist band and fired multiple times.

One officer, a 20 year veteran suffered multiple gunshot wounds including a neck injury.

The other officer, a 4 year veteran, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. Detroit’s Police Chief says that officers protective vest blocked the bullets fired at his chest.

Both officers were hospitalized, one remains in the hospital. Their names have not been released.

Police sources say, DNA connects Durham to the murder scene of Wayne State Police Sergeant Colin Rose. Sources say Durham’s DNA matched three points of contact:  gloves, a flashlight and the sergeant himself.

Durham is now the prime suspect in the murder of Sergeant Colin Rose, but has not yet been charged for this crime.

In connection with last week's shooting, Durham has been charged with two counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, two counts of Resisting and Obstructing the Police Causing Serious Impairment, one count of Felon in Possession of a Firearm and five counts of Felony Firearm.  He was arraigned in the hospital
