ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — An Eastpointe man was arrested after a carjacking at a gas station and crashing into a home in Royal Oak.

On Dec. 5, the 29-year-old suspect allegedly stole a car and a cell phone from a woman at the Mobil Gas Station located at 31001 Woodward Avenue. The car was a red Honda CR-V.

When officers were en-route, they received multiple 911 calls of a red Honda vehicle that crashed into a house on Ferncliff and Thirteen Mile. The stolen car struck a telephone pole, wooden fence and crashed into the house.

Police say the homeowners were home but not injured. The suspect then ran away southbound on Ferncliff.

While officers were searching for the suspect, police say they received a phone call from the clerk at the Exxon Gas Station located at W. Thirteen Mile. The clerk said a man was inside the store claiming he was assaulted by an unknown subject. Police say the man was identified as the suspect in the carjacking.

Royal Oak police are investigating the incident.
