ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WXYZ) — Royal Oak car owners can breath a sigh of relief for now.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old Ferndale man late Monday night for stealing from vehicles in Royal Oak. On Oct. 6 around 10:33 p.m. officers responded to a report from a resident who discovered his tires and rims were stolen from his vehicle in the 3200 block of Belle Ct.

A neighbor witnessed an unknown man leave the area in a white contractor van. The man then sped over the curb and the grass and continued driving southbound on Coolidge Hwy. The officers put the suspect’s information over the radio to area departments.

A Berkley cop heard the suspect’s description over the radio and saw the suspect committing another larceny from a vehicle on the 3300 block of Parker. Royal Oak officers quickly set up a perimeter, and the suspect tried to run away but was quickly apprehended.

Police recovered the four stolen tires and the rims from the larceny on Belle Ct. They also found all the stolen tools, totaling more than $2,000, from the vehicle on Parker.
