(WXYZ) — The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said a man was arrested and charged in a 2014 hit-and-run that severely injured a teen.
According to police, the crash happened on Sept. 28, 2014. Two teenage bicyclists were going north near Rochester Rd. and Romeo Rd. when they were struck by a gray SUV. One of the 18-year-olds was severely injured.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction unit was called to the scene to investigate. They collected a small amount of evidence, including a piece of a foglamp left behind by the vehicle.
Deputies continued investigating but couldn't identify a suspect or vehicle at the time of the incident. Investigators continued to research registration records and followed up on tips which were received.
Recently, a deputy presented evidence to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office to secure a one count warrant.
The suspect, 53-year-old Brent Addelia, from Lapeer, was arrested on Jan. 21, 2020. He's currently being held at the Oakland County Jail on one count of leaving the scene of a serious injury accident.
He was arraigned and given a $75,000 cash/surety bond.
The victim, now 23, has made a full recovery from injuries.
