Man busted drunk driving on an ATV has 7 previous convictions

ALPENA, Mich. (WXYZ) — Michigan State Police say they busted an Alpena man for allegedly drinking and driving on an ATV over the weekend, and the man has several previous convictions.

According to police, troopers on patrol in Alpena Township in the early morning hours of June 9 saw 45-year-old Elliot Betterly exhibiting signs of intoxication, and then get on an ATV and drove off.

The troopers then tried to get turned around, but lost sight of the ATV. They searched the area and found it parked at a nearby residence, and then found Betterly lying on the front porch.

According to police, the troopers found evidence he was intoxicated and didn't have a license. After additional checks, they found he was on felony probation and had seven previous OWI-related convictions.

Troopers arrested him and put him in the Alpena County Jail. The prosecutor issued a warrant charging with OWI - 3rd or susequent offense, driving while license suspended and habitual offender.
