DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Dearborn police say a man has been arrested and charged in connection to the alleged murder of a 93-year-old woman last month.

According to police, Maxine Callaghan was found dead inside her home around 7:30 p.m. on July 22. They found Callaghan was injured and items were missing.

Police investigated with local, state and federal partners, and eventually arrested 40-year-old Chantry Evan Rice, from Dearborn. He was charged with felony murder, and arraigned on that charge last Friday and remanded to jail.

Police say Callaghan was a "vibrant and independent" resident and continued volunteering at The Henry Ford and Herb Society.
