A 19-year-old man is facing charges in connection to the shooting of an off-duty Detroit police officer on June 4.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is charging Keevon Deewon Robinson of Detroit with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
According to police, the officer had just left the store in the 2300 block of Gratiot around 11 p.m. when he was approached by a man who attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
It was at that time that the pair exchanged gunfire. Police say the gunman was shot and killed and the officer was transported to a nearby hospital for a gunshot wound.
Robinson is accused of conspiring in the robbery and taking the officer's gun and phone after the incident.
Robinson is expected to be arraigned this afternoon.
