ROMULUS, Mich. (WXYZ) — Wayne County prosecutors have charged a man in the I-94 freeway shooting that happened Thursday.

Demetrius Butler was charged with possession of a firearm by felon, ammunition possession by felon, two counts of felonious assault and reckless driving at his arraignment Friday.

According to police, at 4:30 p.m Thursday, officers received a call from a woman saying that a driver had fired a shot at her vehicle on I-94 near Merriman. She provided the license plate of the suspect's vehicle, who she says fired one round and missed her vehicle.

An MSP trooper was in the I-94 median, just west of the incident, at the time. That trooper was able to locate and stop Butler within minutes following the incident.

Troopers then located the female victim, who identified the Butler.
