MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) — The Macomb County Prosecutor's Office has charged a man who allegedly broke into a woman's home in Warren over the weekend and sexually assaulted her.

According to Prosecutor Eric Smith, 24-year-old George Harris Patterson has been charged with first degree criminal sexual conduct, first degree home invasion and resisting and obstructing police.

Police say Patterson targeted the 37-year-old woman while riding his bike past her house. They say as she went into the home, Patterson went inside without her knowledge, and while inside, he physically and sexually assaulted her before fleeing on his bike.

Police say they responded immediately and trailed the suspect in the area of 7 Mile and Van Dyke, but they set up a perimeter. Patterson was spotted fleeing the area, and after a short foot chase, he was arrested.

Smith said that police were given a detailed description which helped them immediately identify and arrest the suspect.

He was arraigned in court on Monday and denied bond due to the severity of his crimes and his prior record.
