Man charged with indecent exposure at J.C. Penney in Troy

(WXYZ) — A suspect has been charged with indecent exposure after an incident at a J.C. Penney in Troy, police say.

On March 21, a 50-year-old woman was shopping in the store when 29-year-old Michael Alan Mattox approached and touched her buttocks. The woman then turned around and saw Mattox was exposing his genitals. The victim told him she was going to call police, prompting Mattox to leave the area.

Protection managers and mall security located the suspect in the parking lot near the Sears store, and responding officers apprehended the suspect.

The victim was able to positively identify Mattox as the perpetrator. He was arrested then arraigned the following day at 52-4 District Court.

He was charged with aggravated indecent exposure and criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degree.
