Man dies after crashing into Detroit Zoo parking structure

A 29-year-old Detroit man was killed after he struck the Detroit Zoo parking structure support wall with his vehicle on November 13, according to police. 

Royal Oak officers responded to the scene Woodward Avenue at 10 Mile Road around 12:29 a.m.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver appeared to have left the roadway near the Washington Ave. split and struck the concrete structure support.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southbound Woodward Avenue was shut down while investigators from the Royal Oak Police Department and Oakland County Sheriff’s Office investigated with the assistance of the Berkley Public Safety Department.
