SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A truck pulling a horse trailer fatally crashed into a tree in Sumpter Township early Monday.
Police say units were dispatched to Willis Road near Sharon Court for the crash; upon arrival, investigators found that a truck with four occupants was eastbound Willis pulling a horse trailer with a single horse when it ran off the roadway, hitting a tree on the north side.
The front-seat passenger, a 24-year-old Wyandotte man, was killed in the crash. The driver, an 18-year-old Sumpter woman, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.
Both back-seat passengers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say the horse died on the scene.
