DETROIT (WXYZ) — A man has been hospitalized after trying to kill a bug and accidentally injuring himself overnight.
On Tuesday around 2:05 a.m., Detroit Police responded to a call from a home in the 18700 block of Albion Street.
Police say a 50-year-old man threw a shoe at a bug and a 22-revolver inside the shoe discharged, injuring the man. He suffered a self-inflicted wound "in his body" and was taken to a nearby hospital by medics.
According to a DPD spokesperson Latrice Crawford, the man's condition is "still pending."
Officers did not confirm where in the house the incident happened.
"Gun-locks are available at your local police precinct. There is no charge." Crawford said, reminding residents.
