A man is in critical condition after police say he was struck by a car while walking on the roadway.

It happened Friday around 10:00 p.m. off of Inkster and Beverly in Romulus.

Police say a man was walking on the road, heading northbound, when a 37-year old driver from Flat Rock, heading south, struck him.

He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and the driver was taken with minor injuries.

"I've never seen anything like that before and there were no other vehicles around no damage it was just him," a witness says.

Surveillance video from the Marathon gas station on Inkster and Ecorse shows the man walking into oncoming traffic nearly 30 minutes prior.

WXYZ alerted police about the footage.

They now believe it’s the same man and say it’s possible he may have been hit more than once.

Police have not been able to identify the man hit.
