The Norton Shores Police Department says the man was found wounded on the driveway of his home Wednesday night in the city just south of Muskegon along Lake Michigan.
The department says emergency workers tried to revive the man but he died at the scene.
Police initially called the death "suspicious" and said it was still being investigated as they sought any surveillance video from the area. The man's identity wasn't immediately released, but according to a report from WZZM, the victim is identified as Marcus Olmstead.
Officers have arrested a 20-year-old Suspect from Grant. The suspect was arrested in Grand Rapids Thursday afternoon and faces an open murder charge.
According to WZZM, police say the suspect shot Olmstead with the crossbow, hitting the victim in the torso and killing him. Police are saying this was not a random attack and that the suspect knew the victim.
The suspect is now being held at Muskegon County Jail.
