Woman in custody after man shot, killed in road rage shooting in downtown Detroit

DETROIT (WXYZ) — A woman is in police custody following a deadly shooting in Detroit.

Police are investigating an incident in downtown Detroit, where a man was shot and killed a short time ago after what police believe started as road rage.

The incident happened on East Jefferson and St. Antoine near the Ren Cen Tuesday night.

On June 30 around 10:50 p.m. in the 400 block of E. Jefferson, the 24-year-old male victim was driving a 2006 Land Rover when he was involved in an incident with two bicyclists.

Police say the victim got out of the vehicle and approached the two bicyclists while he was armed.

One of the bicyclists, a 28-year-old woman and CPL holder, fired a shot, striking the victim and fatally wounding him.

Police say the 28-year-old woman is in police custody and considered a suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
