TROY, Mich. (WXYZ) — A man who was operating a personal mobility scooter was struck and killed by a car in Troy Thursday night.
Police say the scooter operator was crossing improperly on John R near Isabell and was hit by a 2005 Ford Taurus. He was not within a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The deceased man did not have identification and has not been identified, police say.
The driver of the Taurus was not injured. Police say neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be factors.
John R was closed for approximately 2.5 hours for the investigation.
