DETROIT (WXYZ) — Keep an eye out for a man posing as a DTE worker on Detroit's west side.

Police are investigating a report they received Friday about a home invasion around 3:30 p.m. on the 16000 block of Stout.

A 17-year-old told police he was home alone when an unknown man wearing a yellow cap knocked on the door. He opened the door, and the man introduced himself as a DTE employee.

The suspect told the 17-year-old he needed to check the pipes in the backyard, and the teen let him into the house.

Shortly after, the fake DTE worker pulled out a gun and demanded money. Police say a 35-year-old white woman, believed to be an accomplice, also entered the home.

The 17-year-old victim gave both suspects an undisclosed amount of money. They both left the victim's home, speeding off in an unknown direction, police say.

Officers released this suspect description:

SUSPECTS #1 B/M 5'10" WRG YEELOW CAP
SUSPECT#2 W/F/35

Police are still investigating the incident.
