Man killed, possibly over Jordan sneakers on Detroit's east side

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Police are investigating a fatal shooting Friday morning outside a shoe store on Detroit's east side.

Around 9:48 a.m., a male victim in his 20s was shot in the area of 7 Mile Road and Gratiot. Police say an argument began between the victim and the suspect inside the building then continued outside. The suspect then fired a shot at the victim, fatally wounding him.

Family members says the victims is 32-year-old Dale Johnson of Clinton Township. He had been shot in the head, chest and stomach.

Police say the dispute was possibly over a pair of Jordan sneakers.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a gray sweatsuit and possibly driving a white Mercury Marquis sedan.

DPD is still talking with witnesses and searching for the suspect.

The investigation is ongoing.
