A man who killed his cellmate inside of a Macomb County jail for singing was sentenced to 10-15 years for manslaughter Thursday.

Judge Michael Servitto of Macomb County Circuit Court sentenced Demare Carter-Bowles in the September 2013 beating death of Edward Miller.

Carter-Bowles became agitated with Miller’s constant singing while they shared a cell in the mental health section of Macomb County Correctional Facility on 26 Mile Road in Lenox Township.  And that’s when Carter-Bowles kicked and punched miller. He died in April 2014.

Carter-Bowles Attorney said his mother is the person who advised her son to beat his cellmate, to make him stop singing, according to the Macomb Daily.
