Man who reportedly killed stepmother with spike stick arraigned

A man who allegedly beat his stepmother to death with a spike stick on Friday was arraigned on Monday.

According to police, the 36-year-old Raymond Mealy allegedly beat his 64-year-old stepmother to death at a home in Detroit on Friday.

Police responded to the scene based on a report of a violent, mentally unstable person at the home. Family members tell us the man is mentally ill.

He is charged with first degree murder and given a video arraignment on that charge Monday morning at Frank Murphy Hall of Justice.
