Man's powered parachute crashes near Rossettie Airport in Sharon Township

SHARON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 68-year-old man was injured Sunday when his powered parachute crashed crashed near Rossettie Airport in Sharon Township.

The incident happened just before 11: 30 a.m.

The powered parachute is described as a parachute with a motor and wheels.

According to Lt. Darren Green with the Michigan State Police Department, the powered parachute may not be regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), but investigators are still in contact with the FAA regarding this incident.

No details have been released yet on what caused the powered parachute to crash. The 68-year-old man from Ann Arbor is at the University of Michigan Hospital being treated for his injuries. He may have sustained a broken leg, police say. He was also mentioning back and neck pain.
