Cedar Point has announced that the roller coaster Mean Streak will ride for the last time on September 16.

The wooden roller coaster will close for good after one final public riding session on the opening night of Cedar Point's HalloWeekends. The riding session will take place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 16.

Cedar Point released the following video on Twitter Monday morning:

“Mean Streak has, and always will be a significant part of our roller coaster legacy at Cedar Point,” said Jason McClure, vice president and general manager for Cedar Point. “But we have our sights set on the future of FrontierTown, and unfortunately, that means Mean Streak has to leave our lineup of world-class attractions.”

The Mean Streak opened in 1991 as the world's tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster.

The future development of FrontierTown has not yet been announced.
