The heat is on the rise to wrap up the weekend and it brings a few chances of showers and storms along with it. Look for the earliest rounds of rain Sunday morning with more opportunities Sunday afternoon and evening. These opportunities for storms are made possible due to an increase in humidity leading to instability.

We shook the dust off the "Muggy Meter" for the first time this season. We use this to measure how it feels outside when you add humidity to the air temperature and It's also a good indicator for potential storms. As you can see in the coming days, we'll have plenty of humidity to go around for the unofficial start of Summer.

This increased moisture could produce some storms with heavy rain and even some hail with the stronger cells. Aside from increased humidity, Metro Detroit won't have a lot of ingredients to produce a washout or widespread storms, which is good news for outdoor holiday plans. Storm coverage will be widely scattered so make sure you have our weather app handy if you plan on firing up the grill.

Get used to this summertime pattern because temps will stay in the 80s for a good chunk of next week.
