The Oakland County Sheriff's Office is celebrating two citizens for their quick-thinking action to save a 9-year-old girl during a Magic of Lights event at DTE Energy Music Theatre.

In a Facebook post, the sheriff's office said two staff members, one from DTE and one from the Magic of Lights event, came to the aid of the girl who was choking after she accidentally became stuck in a seatbelt mechanism during the drive-thru light display earlier in December. After the parents pulled over and called for help, the sheriff's office said Rich Doran and Chuck Nelson ran over and were able to free the child.

The citizens were presented with a Citizen's Lifesaving Award from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for their efforts.
