Metro Detroit baker, restaurant nominated for James Beard Awards

(WXYZ) — One Detroit baker and an Ann Arbor eatery have been nominated for James Beard Awards.

The prestigious awards, considered to be the "Oscars" of the restaurant world, honor chefs, restaurants and food media.

Lisa Ludwinski of Sister Pie Detroit was nominated for Outstanding Baker. According to the James Beard Foundation, this award goes to "a pastry chef or baker who demonstrates exceptional skill, integrity and character in the preparation of desserts, pastries or breads served in a retail bakery."

Additionally, Zingerman's Roadhouse in Ann Arbor was nominated for Outstanding Service.

This award goes to a restaurant that demonstrates consistency and exceptional thoughtfulness in hospitality and service.
