SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WXYZ) — Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the 40-day period leading up to Easter.
A common tradition of Ash Wednesday, marking an ashen cross on the foreheads of believers, is usually performed during a service inside Christian churches.
If you don't have time to attend Mass, St. David's Episcopal Church in Southfield will offer ashes both inside and outside the church.
A robed minister will be standing outside and offering ashes to drivers at the church on 12 Mile Road.
Ashes will be available in the driveway in front of the church from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
