Gas prices around Metro Detroit dipped again from the previous week, marking four consecutive weeks of decline.

According to AAA Michigan, gas prices in Metro Detroit are now averaging about $2.28 per gallon, down about six cents from the week before. Metro Detroit drivers were paying about $1.25 more per gallon at this time last year.

The statewide average is now $2.26 per gallon, down about 10 cents from last week, AAA Michigan reported.

The organization says the cheapest gas is in the Flint area, where prices average about $2.16 per gallon. The most expensive gas was found in the Ann Arbor area, where prices hovered around $2.33 per gallon.

If the price of crude oil remains relatively low, AAA Michigan predicts gas prices will continue their downward trend into fall as the summer driving season comes to an end.
