(WXYZ) — Metro Detroit has only had one day this winter with temperatures below 20°, which could set a nearly 90-year-old record.
7 First Alert Meteorologist Kevin Jeanes said the record for the fewest number of days with temperatures in the teens through January is three. That happened in the winter of 1931-32.
After that, it was six days in 1889-90.
So far this winter, temperatures have been above-average, with only one day in the teens and no days in the teens in January. That was on Christmas when the temperature dropped to 19°.
That “one day” was Christmas Day when the temp dropped to 19°.
