A Lyft driver was robbed at gunpoint on Detroit's west side Thursday night and the badge he was wearing may have saved his life.
The driver tells 7 Action News he was in his car with a customer on 7 Mile and Rutherford when the suspects approached with a gun.
The passenger was able to get away, but the robbers reportedly took the driver's wallet and phone.
The driver says he's a part time paramedic and when the two suspects saw his badge, they seemed to panic and ran away.
The Lyft driver says he was then able to get to a nearby gas station and call police.
Police say they are still investigating the incident.
