Metro Detroit man crushed by 15-passenger van

A man is recovering after being crushed by a 15-passenger van in White Lake.

It happened Tuesday at an oil change shop on M-59.

Todd Farren says he’s a service technician and was guiding the driver of that van into the garage when the driver hit the gas full throttle.

Farren was pinned to the garage door before falling to the ground.

“I have a broken tibia in three places, large cut in my back and several bruises, but I'm alive.”

He will need surgery on his leg.

"I want to get back to work and I want to get all this stuff done. I can't even afford to put food on the table. I had to pay for this wheelchair," Farren says.

He hopes drivers can learn from this mistake.

"If you're going into an oil change place, just be careful. Concentrate on the person, don't look at the hole. The hole is not what you need to worry about, the person in front is what you need to worry about, because cars can be replaced," he says.

Farren and his family have created a GoFundMe for his medicine and rent.
