A metro Detroit man is a couple million dollars richer thanks to a lucky scratch-off ticket.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the 22-year-old Southgate man won $2 million on the Diamond Dazzler Instant Game.

"I like playing instant games, but only buy odd-numbered tickets," he said. "The Diamond Dazzler game is my favorite, so I asked the clerk what number the ticket was. When she said '21,' I told her I wanted it."

The lottery said the man scratched it off in the store, and when he saw he won, he ran out to the car.

The man chose to take a one-time lump-sum payment of $1.3 million rather than the anniuity.
