The mayor of Hamtramck is upset over anti-Semitic graffiti found spray-painted on a residential fence in the city.

Mayor Karen Majewski posted a photo of the fence on her Facebook page, which shows "Jew" spray-painted in large lettering.

The graffiti was found on the 3000 block of Trowbridge Street, near Conant Street and Caniff Street in Hamtramck.

"I'm sorry in some ways to bring attention to the community for something like this," Majewski said. "But I think the larger message is that it demonstrates that something like this is not tolerated in Hamtramck."

Some neighbors on Trowbridge Street said the word has been on the fence for several months. It appears some neighbors attempted to paint over it.

The Mayor said the graffiti is not tolerated in Hamtramck.
