Gas prices are on the rise across metro Detroit and Michigan, with the state seeing the third largest increase in weekly change in the nation.
According to AAA Michigan, the statewide average daily gas price increased by about 13 cents and is now at $2.42 per gallon, which is 14 cents more than this time last year.
As for metro Detroit, we are also seeing an increase in prices. The average daily gas price increased about 8 cents and is also at $2.42 a gallon, according to AAA Michigan. That's 6 cents higher than this time last year.
The highest price comes in the Jackson area, where gas is $2.48 per gallon.
This week, Michigan has the 11th most expensive gas prices in the nation, according to AAA Michigan.
They said after weeks of lows, the national average price has been increasing, and as the summer driving season continues, demand is expected to grow and prices will continue to increase.
