DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Dearborn police were out on patrol Monday but it was not business as usual.

Yes, they were in uniform. However, they were playing the role of Santa Claus.

They weren't handing out tickets but they were handing out holiday cheer! Cheer in the form of $50 gift cards to Kroger.

The Dearborn Police Department teamed up with LAHC, which stands for Leaders Advancing and Helping Communities, and the grocery chain Kroger to surprise and delight unexpected motorists.

Some of the drivers had committed a minor driving infraction, and other drivers were stopped just because.

It was their way of saying, happy holidays!
