Two police officers helped prevent a man from jumping off the I-696 wall near 10 Mile and Woodward over the weekend.

The Royal Oak Police Department says officers were called to the scene around 3:07 p.m. Sunday and found a man who was making threats to jump from the wall.

While a Pleasant Ridge officer kept the man distracted in conversation, a Royal Oak officer quickly pulled the man from the wall, police say.

The man was then transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

Officers from Michigan State Police and Huntington Woods also responded.

“Despite all the officers on the scene being from different departments, they all worked together and demonstrated decisive teamwork. We are extremely pleased no one was hurt and this man can now get the help he needs,” said Royal Oak Police Chief Corrigan O’Donohue in a news release.
