Metro Detroit teen charged for lying to police about being pulled over by 'fake cop'

SOUTHGATE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Southgate police say a 17-year-old girl confessed to lying about being stopped by a "fake cop." She is now facing charges.

On Feb. 28, Faith Gentry reported that she was stopped in the Area Street and Eureka Road by the "fake cop."

Macomb County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Gentry with filing a false police report, a misdemeanor.

Police say it was found early in the investigation that the story was not matching up with the facts. Over the weekend, the teen confessed.

It's exepcted that Gentry will be arraigned in court on Tuesday afternoon.
