MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) — Monroe police have arrested a woman who they say lived with her boyfriend's dead body for weeks.
Police say they were called to the home on April 3 around 3 p.m. to check on the well-being of the 61-year-old resident. Family told police they hadn't seen or heard from him in a few weeks.
Officers weren't able to get ahold of him, but they contacted the property owner to get inside.
As officers approached the second time, the man's girlfriend greeted them at the door and officers "quickly determined that there was a deceased person in the home."
According to police, the girlfriend told them that he had died and, based on the conditions of the home, it appeared the man had died "several weeks earlier" and she continued to live there.
Police say the woman was transported to an area hospital for a medical evaluation and then interviewed the next day after she was released. She was eventually arrested and charged with concealing the death of another.
It's not clear how the man died.
