MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, Mich. (WXYZ) — A 12-year-old boy in Muskegon Heights who was sick of potholes decided to take matters into his own hands.

WZZM reports that Monte Scott started filling potholes near his home last week, using a shovel and dirt from his backyard to even out the road.

“I didn't want people messing up their cars like my mom did,” Scott told WZZM. “If somebody were to drive down the street and hit a pothole, and then would have to pay like $600-700 to get their car fixed, they would be mad."

His mother posted a video on Facebook of Scott filling up the potholes, saying her son has a "heart of gold."
