Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Lisa Gorcyca violated judicial conduct rules, including acting inappropriately on the bench, and making disparaging comments to the children, who were part of a custody case she presided over, according to a new report just issued by the Special Master with the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission (JTC).
This stems from a JTC hearing that centered around a contentious divorce and custody dispute in the Tsimhoni case. Gorcyca presided over the case for approximately five-years. Three children were involved in the case.
Last year, Gorcyca found the siblings in contempt and sent them to juvenile detention for refusing to have lunch with their father. After national media attention, the children were released.
The JTC report also says Gorcyca violated her contempt powers and failed to act in a dignified manner on the bench.
Gorcyca could face expulsion from the bench. Her next hearing is scheduled for September 12.
