(WXYZ) — Staffers who came in contact with former New York mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani are being tested for COVID-19, the Michigan GOP announced Sunday.

President Donald Trump tweeted late Sunday afternoon that Giuliani had contracted the virus. Giuliani was admitted to Georgetown Hospital in Washington Sunday after being diagnosed with the coronavirus, sources familiar with the matter tell ABC. It is unclear when exactly Giuliani tested positive or the details of his condition.

Giuliani is the latest person in the President's inner circle to contract COVID-19. Trump himself, along with first lady Melania Trump, chief of staff Mark Meadows, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, and Trump's sons Don Jr. and Barron have all contracted the coronavirus.

In recent weeks, Giuliani has traveled throughout the country to lead the Trump campaign efforts to overturn election results in several battleground states on the basis of widespread voter fraud.

He appeared before Michigan's House Oversight Committee – without a mask – on Dec. 2, where he questioned his own witnesses, some of whom worked at TCF Center in Detroit during the Nov. 3 election.

A handful of witnesses testified, some of whom claim while they were working here at TCF during the election, they witnessed irregularities or even fraud. Giuliani claims — as he has for weeks — that thousands of votes were cast illegally. At this point, there still has not been substantial evidence presented to back up this claim.

The Michigan GOP released this statement on Guiliani's close contact with Chairman Laura Cox and several staffers:

“The Michigan Republican Party sends out our prayers to Mayor Giuliani, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Chairman Laura Cox and staffers who came into contact with the Mayor during his visit to our headquarters are being tested and all appropriate precautions are being taken."

The hearing was spoofed on "Saturday Night Live" during the show's cold open. The skit featured Kate McKinnon as Giuliani and Cecily Strong as Melissa Carone, one of the witnesses who went viral after her delivery during the hearing drew public criticism.
