(WXYZ) — Leaders in the Michigan House will take up a bill to rename part of the Lodge Freeway from 8 Mile to I-94.
The bill is aimed at renaming the part of the freeway to Aretha L. Franklin Memorial Highway.
State Rep. Fred Durhal III introduced the bill back in October, two months after Franklin passed away.
If approved, this won't be the first roadway named after the Queen of Soul – Detroit City Council designated a portion of Madison between Brush and Witherell as Aretha Franklin Way in 2017.
