(WXYZ) — A website geared toward helping teachers in the classroom is working to help teachers in Michigan.

The U.S. Department of Education found teachers pay around $479 a year on their own school supplies, and that 94% of teachers do pay for their own supplies.

Classroom Giving was started by a new a New York City man who wanted to help a teacher in Arizona after she revealed how much she was being paid on social media.

The website allows teachers to make an Amazon wish list of supplies they are looking for in the classroom. Michigan was recently addedto the website.

Already there is one teacher working at Roberto Clemente Academy in Detroit asking for supplies. Some of the things she's looking for is crayons, stickers, books, pens and more.
