The Kroger Co. of Michigan is reaching out to its customers to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
They can purchase shamrocks for a $1, $5 or $10 donation with 100% of the funds going to MDA.
The shamrocks will then be displayed on store walls.
The company says a Kroger associate who lost her son to a muscular disease is a driving force behind the campaign.
Paula Zimmerman's son, Andrew, was diagnosed with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 2-and-a-half.
He passed away when he was 18.
Zimmerman remembers how he loved going to MDA's summer camp and says the organization always stood by them. "Andrew benefited from various services," she says. "MDA set up doctor appointments and helped with leg braces and a wheelchair. They were there to support us 100%, they never turn anyone away."
Customers donated more than $172,000 to the Kroger Shamrock campaign in 2016, enough to send about 200 kids to MDA summer camp.
The fundraiser at Michigan Kroger stores runs through April 4.
In the past 20 years, Kroger has raised $30 million to help save and improve the lives of people fighting muscle disease.
