Michigan Sen. Debbie Stabenow appeared on Morning Joe on MSNBC Thursday morning to talk about President Trump and the administration's potential ties to Russia.
Stabenow said that Trump can be forced to show his tax returns despite the president's unwillingness to provide the documents.
"We know his son has said that Russian money has come pouring in to their businesses over the years, and unlike any other President, he won't release his business or tax returns," Stabenow said on the show.
According to Stabenow, the tax code allows the chair of the Finance Committee in the Senate and Ways and Means Committee in the House to hold an executive session. In that session, they can require the tax returns to be given during a private session with members to see "if something is serious there."
Stabenow says during that session, the members can vote to make the returns public.
