A Michigan Senate committee is holding a hearing today to discuss the state's academically failing schools. The meeting could also recommend an overhaul of Detroit Public Schools.

Lawmakers are working quickly on a bill to help the district deal with its debt.

Right now, the district is set to run out of money if nothing is done by April.
