Michigan State Trooper attacked during traffic stop, Good Samaritans stop to help

Two men have been charged after they reportedly attacked a Michigan State Trooper who was attempting to make a traffic stop.

The trooper is alright following the incident. Two passing motorists stopped to help and got the men off of him.

Jerry and Lisa Burnham of Berrien County were driving on US-31 near the Indiana border when a police chase passed them.

Michigan State Trooper Garry Guild was chasing a man on a stolen motorcycle. The bike lost control and crashed.

The 21-year-old driver got up unharmed and reportedly charged the trooper.

Another car pulled up with the motorcycle driver's 19-year-old brother, who started attacking the trooper as well.

Trooper Guild was punched and choked. Luck was on his side when the Burnham's stopped. Jerry Burnham joined another passerby in wrestling the attackers.

The Good Samaritans helped the trooper, who was able to arrest the two men.
